Quasistatic Evolution of Cavities in Nonlinear Elasticity
نویسنده
چکیده
We show the well-posedness of a free-discontinuity model in nonlinear elasticity allowing for cavitation. The model, based on global minimization, takes into account the noninterpenetration of matter and the inhomogeneties of the material. Then we prove the existence of a quasistatic evolution corresponding to this variational model that takes into account the irreversibility of the process of the cavity formation.

A quasistatic evolution model for perfectly plastic plates derived by Γ-convergence
The rigorous derivation of lower dimensional models for thin structures is a question of great interest in mechanics and its applications. In the early 90’s a rigorous approach to dimension reduction has emerged in the stationary framework and in the context of nonlinear elasticity. This approach is based on Γ-convergence and, starting from the seminal paper [3, 4], has led to establish a hiera...

We present a variational model to study the quasistatic growth of brittle cracks in hyperelastic materials, in the framework of finite elasticity, taking into account the non-interpenetration condition.
متن کاملThe problem of dynamic cavitation in nonlinear elasticity
The notion of singular limiting induced from continuum solutions (slic-solutions) is applied to the problem of cavitation in nonlinear elasticity, in order to re-assess an example of non-uniqueness of entropic weak solutions (with polyconvex energy) due to a forming cavity.

We extend the recent existence result of [9] for quasistatic evolutions of cracks in finite elasticity, allowing for boundary conditions and external forces with discontinuous first derivatives.
